the catchest cartoon songs

So after about 3 hours of singing (and a  mean that in the loosest possible way) to my self, I realised I was singing the teenage mutant ninja turtle song (the 80's version) and I thought the people of the web should be forced to sing their own songs. So I collected some of the best and catchiest songs from my childhood, and put them in the order I love them. You may not like or know all of these cartoon intros, but hopefully you will go away cursing my name while singing.

So to start all of this off one of the more famous ones...

10# Teenage mutant heroes turtles

So I put this so low on the list because... well it annoys me. I love the turtles, hell I even have the new film that came out a few years ago which no one has seen, which is great by the way  (seriously it has Patrick Stuart, Sarah michelle Geller and more voice acting), I even have the game of the film and think its pretty good. So it hurts me to say bad things about this cartoon but it sucked. it didn't follow the comic at all, and because of scare mongering in the 80's and 90's about violence on tv they never used their weapons so had to constantly do the same fight over and over again. Worst of all they made a whole generation of kids believe that cowabunga was a cool word, truly a crime against humanity.

But damn is it catchy.

9# Mummies alive

Remember this one? Mummies came alive had rocket cars, fought a evil sorcerer called Scarab and had cool weapons. the only downside was the kid. In most things children annoy me, the have high voices and they barely ever agree to have illegal street races with me but in this cartoon its even worse. Imagine for those gamers out there one long cartoon where all it was about was an escort mission, the four mummies had to look after this defenceless kid. so apart from the main premise of the show this cartoon was pretty rad.

8# bucky o hare

So I've met maybe about three people in my life who actually watched this show, but it was great. About an intrepid space captain (who was a rabbit) who is the leading the best and only defence of a coalition of animal planets against the toads, who are led by a toad computer. Ok so yes this show does implicitly advocate racial profiling by showing all cold blooded animals as evil but on the other hand, the duck has four arms, wears an eye patch and used to be a pirate, that has got to count for something.

7# Taz in tazmania

This show managed the impossible, it made Taz into a main character, think about how hard that would be, baring in mind that he can't talk, and his only mode of transport is to spin like crazy and kind of bounce of things until he gets there, so like a drunk. He is also by the standard of the rest of his family a complete barbarian, and that's putting it mildly, his room consists of a tyre swing and a rock for a bed. He was used in the loony toons as a crazy stone age monster who only ate and destroyed. So to make a whole cartoon about him, and more importantly to make a good one is nothing less then amazing.

6# Batman the animated series

Normally this cartoon would be much lower on the list, but this was meant to be about catchy songs not about pure amazingness. The cartoon is one of the best out there, if you haven't watched them, then you cannot say that you like batman. the song itself is pretty damn majestic, with no vocal, just an amazing orchastra which convays all that is batman, dark, dangerous, awesome.

5# pokemon

Ok not a great cartoon but it started a huge franchise so made it in at five, plus as a kid I loved the hell out of it. Even now I can still sing along word for word. It is the only song that gets me do a fist pump. On Pokemon though did anyone else think that this was basically slavery? these things are sentient and people use them for everything from making electricity to putting them on stage.
On a side note this song still brings back memories of SMTV which made pokemon that much better.

4# Noah's island

This is another one of those cartoons I loved, but probably couldn't tell you why. Maybe the idea of a bunch of animals finding sentience and searching for paradise resonated within me, or maybe I just want to rule over a bunch of animals on my own floating fortress, only my psychiatrist can say for sure. But listen to the music, how hopeful it is!

3# Street sharks

I have fond memories of this cartoon (although it is pretty damn terrible) but it is probably the best example of the 90's "cool" phase where everything  had to have guitars and everyone  say awesome (or in this case jawsome). This then is  representing every mediocre cartoon that we loved as kids before we found taste. It was an obviously trying to play to the ninja turtle fans but as a child a loved it. I even almost got my room wallpapered with street shark pictures before my parents realised how stupid that would be. Still for my inner child I put this at 3.

2# Arthur

Come on, who didn't love this? I can still sing all the words to this, plus this is the only reggie intro I can  think of, and that has got to count for something. I probably watched each episode about three times. This show is probably still on now, hell I could probably find a six year old and sing with them, before I get carted of to see some nice doctor with lots of needles. But seriously try and sing along with this, I promise you will remember at least some of it.

1# X men

So no words to this but damn is it recognisable  hum a few bars and anyone with a childhood will know what you're referring to. Plus its a great cartoon, one of the best in fact and exposed us to xmen and keeping up a conintuty that worked. it was also where I discovered how annoying wolverine is but that's not really the point.

So this is my top ten, by the time I finished putting them in order had failed massively so make up whatever order you would like (though xmen or batman have to be near the top, its a rule). I hope you now have a song in your head that won't go away.... ever.
